Take a FREE Breastfeeding class online

Nursing Mothers Counsel currently provides free breastfeeding classes online via zoom only at this time. We hope to return to in-person classes at a later date. We suggest taking a class a month or two before your due date. During the class, you will receive information about how to sign up for free breastfeeding support, but you can always request a counselor through our website, even before the birth of your baby. We generally schedule online breastfeeding classes once every 2-3 months depending on demand, so please check back if you don’t see any current classes listed. Since this is thru Zoom, you will have a live instructor and can ask questions at the end of the session …. and all for FREE (yes, really free as we are a non-profit that has been providing our services since 1955!). Please confirm your attendance when you receive an email requesting that with class details so that our instructors can know you value their volunteered time.

Don’t forget to check out our Resources Page (link at top) as there are links to Stanford online videos and lots of great information!

Our free zoom class covers:

  • what to expect in the early days

  • how to establish a good milk supply

  • when to feed your baby and signs that your baby is getting enough

  • proper positioning

  • how to get an optimal latch

  • milk expression and pump basics

  • and much more!

Expectant parents and their partners, support people, and birth attendants (like doulas) are all welcome and encouraged to attend. Breastfeeding is most successful when the home environment is supportive and informed. However, this class does not qualify for continuing education units for birth workers.
